VMAX Marine was engaged by clients to provide Salvage Master and Naval Architecture Consultancy Services for the 48000 GRT Bulkcarrier KMAX Pro in Penang Port, Malaysia whilst loading. The vessel had caught fire in three cargo holds, which were eventually flooded and had sustained breached fuel oil tanks, deformed hatch coamings, and main deck areas due to the fire heat. The cargo was hydrophilic causing a further loss in buoyancy. The vessel was safely refloated with a combination of partial discharge of cargo, Oil Removal, and de-watering on the affected cargo holds.
