Wan Hai 503, a laden container vessel, that had caught fire off the coast of Kerala, India, resulting with 3 crew members missing,and the entire crew abandoning the vessel due to the catastrophic fire onboard. The casualty was drifting dangerously close to the Indian Coast with a risk of running aground in Monsoon Weather conditions.VMAX Salvage Master/Consultant was mobilised and together with Marine Emergency Response Centre India, were thr first to board the casualty and made a tow connection to the Indian Coast Guard Vessel. The casualty was further prevented from drifting from the coast. The Salvage Master acted as advisor for fire fighting to the Indian Coast and Director of Shipping India until the appointed Salvage Contractor arrived at the site and handed Salvage operations to the salvors.
